Main Objectives
The Main Objectives of the Miracle League of Mercer County are as follows:
Target Population
The Miracle League Association, through its independent chapters’ serves physically and mentally challenged children, ages 4 to 19 who wish to play baseball. Currently these children participate in more than forty (40) fields across the country. Our dream is to provide the more than 78,000 special needs children in Mercer County, with a similar opportunity
Goal, Benefits And Evaluation
The goal of the Miracle League of Mercer County is to build a barrier free site that will include a custom designed field, which incorporates a state of the art cushioned synthetic surface. This will be a unique complex, not just a facility to play ball, but an avenue to provide recreation and education for children with disabilities.
Through participation in Miracle League games the special needs children (along with parents, siblings, volunteers, coaches, organizers and player “buddies”) will attain the benefits of recreation, socialization, education and understanding on matters concerning disabilities.
We will evaluate the success of the program based upon the utilization of the field and the number of children who participate in Miracle League games and their chartiable works.
Desired Impact
The desired impact of the Miracle League of Mercer County is to promote the health and well being of individuals with disabilities, to educate the public, and to promote a greater understanding on matters concerning disabilities and disabled individuals.
We cannot change or cure whatever life has dealt our children. What we can do is provide them with an opportunity to play baseball.
Desired Outcome
Through the construction of the Miracle League field, with its special surface, our children will be given the opportunity to participate in sports and fellowship in a way that was previously unattainable.
Of course, special needs children are the greatest benefactors of Miracle League
games. Parents, siblings, and the children’s peers also benefit from the
league in their rolls as volunteers, coaches, organizers and player “buddies”.
